hail dent removing

I spent a couple hours watching a paintless dent repair tech
work the door and miscellaneous dings out of one my cars.
The results were astoundingly perfect although there was
a small dent behind the sunroof he couldn't reach. He used
a variety of shaped and bent metal rods to access, massage
and pop out dents. This fellow used a dozen such tools
from his selection of three times that number to do the work.
The metal apparently has some "memory" of it's original shape
which allows this to work. A light source consisting of
fluorescent tubes on an articulated stand was used to
monitor his progress by observing the distortions in the
low angle, glancing reflections. I'm convinced this technique
requires both a knack and a fair amount of experience to
execute effectively. In other words, not only would a first-timer
be likely to screw this up but I'll bet a lot of "pros" out there
produce only so so results. I consider myself to be handy but
I would not try this on my own car.
