WRX vs 1.8TQ

Actually, I've been carefully watching used S4s, and the 2000 model year
can be had for around $25-26k if you look around.
The WRX on the other hand, can be had for $200 over invoice (as well as
any Subaru) at Van Bortel Subaru in way upstate NY. That's around $23k
for the wagon, the most likely candidate for my driveway.
I'm debating the used S4 vs WRX myself - I think the Audi will be a
safer, more solid car, and more along the lines of what I'm used to.
The WRX is lighter, better "feeling" in road dynamics, and probably
cheaper to maintain for the first 100k. I can't see autocrossing or
rallycrossing a neu-S4 though (btdt in the CQ and ripped the front
spoiler off) while the WRX has plenty of clearance and looks made to
romp on.
I consider the WRX to be a 2002 version of the 4000tq that Audi never
built, with airbags. Considering that the 4kq (sans turbo) was $17k
back in 1985, a WRX at 23k is a relative bargain.
Being that I still have a VW I can't seem to sell
(http://www.vwfans.com/tdi) in the driveway, it's a moot point for me.
