Hi Gang,
Just consulting the collective wit again. Many of the replys about my
"mosquito fogging" problem dealt with the possibility that I had blown
a gasket. Today I had a chance to check my compression; I did not want
to start the car, so I was forced to check it with the engine cold.
Ahh, I also failed to open the throttle while checking; I always forget
that part:-( So, cold engine and throttle closed produced: #1=129psi,
#2=126psi, #3=124psi, #4=124psi, #5=121psi. Bentley's says that the WU
and MC engines should be between 116 and 159.? psi. I have not oil in
the expansion tank and no water in the oil sump. I have not driven the
car since, but the one time I did start it the exhaust still smelt
bad...is smelt a word or a small fish:-) Anyways, the exhaust stank. My
conclusion is turbo seals, but I am open to alternative suggestions.
BTW, Phil's "Big Red Bus" missed me completely. Stories of it
rear-ending me have been greatly exaggerated. Glad to hear that you and
yours' are all OK also, Phil:-)
Happy motoring,
=====
