Water Pump noises? also Re: Chirping under the hood

Happy New Year all,
Regarding the thread I started mid-December, the birds are still with me
after changing the water pump.  Mechanic said the sound was coming from the
alternator - argh.  Oh well, apparently the water pump was busily boring its
way through the timing belt cover, so replacing it was an inevitibility.
Just a thought, but maybe posting a link to a wav file of the sound might
help?  I described the sound as a "Chirp", but a turkey "Gobble" may have
been correct as well.
