I know on later BMWs the doors could be "double-locked". Turn the key to
lock and it locks all doors. Turn it further yet and it "really" locks all
the doors, so that the plungers cannot be moved at all.

A friend, riding shotgun to work with his father, got left in the car as
he was fumbling around for his lunch. Dad double locked and left in a
rush (doctor types). Friend could NOT get out of the BMW (525i, 90's
vintage).

This was July, in the parking lot, under full sun, in Iowa. After about an
hour, he had stripped to his boxers and was sweating it out. After a while
he started kicking the doors and windows to try and get out, as he was
starting to get light headed. Dad came out around 1PM (7:30 arrival time)
to find him nearly unconscious, on the back seat.

Not believing this, I had a friend lock me in his mum's 318i (1998). Same
deal. Straaange feature.
