FYI.... If you want to save some bucks, Crutchfield has an adapter they sell
with their in-dash units that allows you to use the factory speakers.
(wiring kit comes with the stereo but, i beleive, the adpater is an
additional charge) I have had great luck with crutchfield, they have tech
support if you have install issues too!
Good Luck

Brandon,
Your sisters 91 90q uses a stereo system where the speakers are individually
amplified. (of this i'm 90% sure, someone will say if I'm wrong I'm sure!)
The best option for your sister's car is to replace the stereo deck and all
four speakers. Keep in mind that you can only fit 3.5" speakers in the
dash,
and 6" speakers in the rear deck. Go with the best speakers your sister can
afford.
Since she wants a tape deck, you'll need to get her a deck that has the
capabilites to work with a CD changer, as well as a CD changer. Most common
spot to put the CD changer would be in the trunk. You'll need to run new
wires
for speakers, and wires for the CD changer.
It's not difficult, you'll pretty much need a phillips screwdriver, a 10mm
and
8mm socket and the wiring. what you will want to do is run the wiring down
underneath the plastic door sills. Run the power for the CD changer down
the
one side of the car, and the speaker wires down the other.
Back before my car was turning into a rally car I did a similar install on
my
car. Though, I wired up a rear amplifier and two sub-woofers. To do the
whole
install, including soldering and shrink-wrapping every connection, took me 4
hours. In order to run new speaker/cd changer wires IN MY CAR (89 90q) I
would
have had to remove and replace the following:
Under-dash panels, both sides (glove box too).
Door sills, both sides front to back.
Rear seat bottom.
Rear seat back (two people to re-install).
You will also need a wiring diagram in order to cut the proper wires to
provide
power for the new stereo deck. Positive power for the CD changer can be
attached right to battery (put a fuse inbetween), you can put a ground in
the
trunk. The CD changer is switched on and off from the stereo deck using the
accessory wire...sometimes called the 'power antenna' wire.
HTH,
Email me if you have any other questions.
