I just have to jump in with a little tale.... that is relevant...sort of....
In my dark ages (pre-Audi ownership), I drove a 1982 Toyota 4X4 that I had
done a fair bit of work on. It was a purpose built off road truck, with a
reasonable 2" lift. One time, in stop and go traffic I went and stopped but
the camero (or firebird) behind me went and kept on going. There is no way
she could have been going more than 5 MPH when she rear ended and went under
my rear bumper, but it was still a mess. Her hood, grill, both fenders with
serious damage. I had to take a few strokes with a stiff brush to get her
paint off my bumper. The moral to the story - 5MPH bumpers are fine as long
as that is what hits the obstacle. They don't always line up perfectly with
what's in the way.
