Nope.  They did import it.  And I mean "it" in the singular form.
ONE was imported from Germany...

The running joke is that if you ever found a '94 for sale, call the
cops(since its guaranteed stolen), and then quietly buy it at
auction, and make sure you win :-)

I've always thought it would be kind of fun to try and learn more
about it, ie, if it actually happened etc.  Its a pretty amusing
tale, all the better if it's actually true.
