Clutch and ABS/brake adjustments for '88 5ksq

Yippee!! Finally got my car back from the (non-Audi) mechanic! Good thing
is that he tends to fix stuff as he finds it (at no additional charge "while
I've already got it open/apart..."). He also cleaned up the tranny so that
what you can see of it under the hood looks all purty. Lastly, I can also
trust that he won't needlessly fix stuff or "break stuff for next time" (as
has been my unsubstantiated experience with other shops). For example, a
cursory inspection at another shop a while back supposedly showed that the
tranny mounts needed replacing. My guy said there was nothing wrong -- that
the tranny was rock solid on there.

Anyway... getting to my problem... While I have my car back, the mechanic
acknowledged that the clutch and/or brakes may not be adjusted to my liking
(or factory spec). The clutch pedal seems to resist less than normal, but I
like the new release (?) point -- foot down more toward the floor. The
brakes are MUCH firmer, but ABS seems to be kicking in too soon. I'm used
to the "grinding tin can" ABS sound, but I shouldn't get it every time I
stop. While there isn't a clear clutch slip, I get the feeling that the
connection (pressure) just isn't what it could be. It doesn't feel totally
solid.

Advice?? Ideas??

Thanks, you guys (and gals?), for helping this acknowledged novice. The
only thing I *really* know about cars is that I love Audi.
