We do???

Having two S4s plus a V8 in the family, I can tell you that if anything is
quirky it is the V8. Neither the V8 nor the S4 have had any serious issues,
although the V8 instrument cluster had a mind of it's own and needed to be
operated on.

The two cars are very different, so I guess it depends on your driving style.
The V8 quattro is all about smooth luxury cruising at speed. The S4 isn't quite
as smooth on the interstate but it makes up for it in other ways. A slushbox V8
versus a manual S4 leaves little in favor of the V8 (in my opinion). Make it a
V8 quattro 5 speed with sport seats versus an S4 and you're getting warmer. :-)
