I knew there had to be exceptions. Kind like the crank driven
ignition on the 7A motors on the Coupe quattro's and 90q's. I
guess if you go far enough back, they did all kinds of stuff that they
don't do anymore.
For something even less related to this thread, what I'm wondering
at the present time is if the AAN coil packs will fit into a 7A motor
without too much trouble. Anyone know? It would sure be a clean
install, direct ignition driven off standalone engine management,
with some custom intake and turbo header. No need to buy the
expensive RS2 parts if you're going full custom anyhow. No chips
to buy either. And if one is buying custom pistons, may as well
get them with the right c/r to match up the MC-1 bottom end with
the 3B-prepped (whatever that entails) 7A head. The RS2 cam is
probably it's only equivalent tho'. I need another MC block to mess
with on the side. <shiver> I'm dreaming...
