The shop that rebuilt the head the first time is the place I took it back
to for the valve replacement. I asked them what they thought, and they
also suggested valve float. I don't know very much about the process of
head re-building, so I wondered if there might have been something wrong
with the original head rebuild, and worried if that were the case they
might botch it a second time. This is a reputable shop, but I don't want
to go through this again. I asked them to check the valve springs ... they
did and said all were within spec.
Valve float sounds like the prime suspect so far, combined with cam and
timing advance.
So should I keep the adjustable cam gear, or the sport cam?
