This is the car that made me ask V8 v. S4. It's a 1993
Audi S4, green with ecru interior. 114,000K? miles.
Crack in headllight (may have been replaced). Two 8"?
speakers in an upholstered box in trunk fender well,
and an amplifier (don't know make or wattage) under
the shelf. Sony head unit. Stereo looked a lot better
than it sounded.

When I took it out for a test drive on a rainy day,
engine was missing badly under 3000rpm. It seemed to
clear its throat over 3000rpm. I offered $11K with
the engine miss fixed. The dealer accepted. When he
found out it wasn't just "points, plugs, distributor
cap, and rotor" but one or more electronic modules
at about $250 each, he wanted to change the deal. He
was asking $11,999.

After much soul searching, I decided that there aren't
a lot of opportunities to take advantage of the S4's
performance, and that I'd rather have a V8 (call me
stupid), so I passed on it.
