A/C fan noise - normal?

A small question - I have rarely used the A/C in my 01 A4q, preferring the =
sunroof and windows.  With the 90+ degree weather we've had lately, I'm now=
 using the A/C more and just noted a very noticeable, loud fan noise from a=
pparently behind the grill.  The noise occurs whenever the A/C is on, regar=
dless of the engine temperature - including when the car is cool first thin=
g in the morning.  When asked, the local dealer says "its normal", of cours=
e=2E

Are the A/C units in A4q's truly this loud/noticeable normally?  Thanks for=
 any comments.
