Megan,
If the ring you want to R/R goes around a part, then you need an external pair
of pliers to spread the ring enought to remove/install.
If the ring is inside in its location, then you need an internal to compress
the ring and allow it to clear the location.
If the rings you will be working are not that big, you will be able to find a
reversable pair of snap ring pliers. If they require a big diameter of the tip
(like 0.090" or bigger) I would recomend buy a fixed one, and from a good
brand (Snap-on, etc.). The cheap ones will break.
