Voltage Regulator Interchangeability

Thanks for the replies.  I did check out
http://www.kalem.com.tw/regulator.htm but I couldn't find my voltage
regulator part numbers on their page.  The regulator from my '86 5ktq
alternator is part # 1 197 311 011 and the one from my '88 Scirocco 16V is
part # 1 197 311 021.

Are they interchangeable?
