Coupe Quattro Parking Brake Return Spring

Hi Tim,
I had the same recurrent problem on my 88 5KCSTQ and recently
fixed it. I added a helper spring to the original on both sides. I used a
coil spring (about 1/2" dia) with a regular hook that goes over the lever
on one end. Final spring length about 5 coils. I formed a 2" long straight
end at the other end of the spring by heating and uncoiling the
coils. This straight end can be anchored with enough stretch on the
coils by wrapping it around the caliper casting just below the
pivot point of the lever. Fixed the problem without having to take the
caliper apart.
