On my 90 it came out in about six pieces, and took 30% of the time
devoted to the entire job.

There a few tricks, none of which works consistently.  One is to screw a
drywall screw into the seal and pull like heck on it.

Eventually, you will manage to cut or break the little spring thing that
acts to keep it firmly "expanded" in place, and then it's not so hard to
get the rest out.  just try not to scratch the crank or pump surfaces,
obviously.

It has a tapered thread that cuts into the center of the seal, then a
screw is tightened to pull the tool back.  A good, clean, sharp one can
work very well.  A beat up one won't help at all.
