FWIW: yes, Dorothy, other car makers make good cars. Sometimes. Not as good
as my '87 5ktq w/186k mi.[blinders on, flame suit on]

Right now gfriend is driving a rental Focus. Auto tranny sucks, but chassis
dynamics and steering/overall handling is excellent. Especially for a car
costing around 13k. Nice, fat steering wheel and good ergonomics too.

I've rented numerous Mazda Protoges. (gee, wonder why) Amazing car for its
price and expected audience. Reminds me of older generation VW GLIs and
their 'tossability'. Awesome handling. If the Audi takes a crap (or rather
its last crap), this is likely my next car.
...Or a used type44 that needs CC system, new turbo, door handles,
headliner...
