I run 205-45-16's on my GT, which is dropped about 2.75 inches, and no
problems. We rolled the rear fenders to accomidate larger (225-50-15) racing
tires, but the street setup worked just fine pre-rolling. The wheels are BBS
RN 16x7.5's, tires Dunlop SW-10's. ET 35, I believe, off the top of my head.
The roads here in RI are pretty bad, and if you can stand the noise and
harshness, 16's shouldn't be a problem. If you're concerned, get a slightly
larger sidewall - 205-50-16's, your speedo will be a hair off, but you'll
have an extra measure of protection.
