Or put it this way: you see a southbound car turning left. You decide to
make your turn anyway.  You collide.  You try to explain to the police
officer that you didn't yield because the other guy was turning left, and
yes, you saw the yield sign.

Do you think the cop will approve of you actions?  Do you think your
insurance company will OK it?

Accidents, even without injury, are way more trouble than they
are worth even if you're right.
