Also, you might want check for vacuum leaks. I had a similar situation as you have
described when rolling upto a stop sign. The car would stall and take several minutes
before you could restart it. Not a very pleasant experience I can assure you when you
are sitting at a busy intersection. In my case, the problem turned out to be a vacuum leak
on the 3-way vacuum hose (dry rot underneath the hose) located at the rear of the valve
cover. (an '87 5KCSTQ). Good Luck on the repair.
