him pass.

I'm telling this story for two reasons:

Hmm, and you admit this?!

Seems to me that you should be the one apologizing. ;-) You shoulda pulled
over to the right lane *before* the first three went by on the right. I
assume your state has the same (mostly ignored) signs (reminding of the law)
we have here in CA. that state "Slower Traffic Keep Right"?

Particularly bothersome is your last sentence. Do you truly believe that the
left lane is *your* "coveted left lane"???? Therein lies the real problem.

No offense intended and all in good fun, but you did hit a nerve. Here in
Santa Cruz County we have two major divided freeways. Both are only two
lanes in each direction. The speed limit on the vast majority of these roads
is 65. Even in light to moderate traffic the left lane is clogged with
people doing 5-10 under the posted speed limit who refuse to get out of
their "coveted left lane" and let faster traffic by. Admittedly, you were
cruising at a decent clip doing 80, but for that six-pack of Audis loafing
along at 100 you were "slower traffic" and should be aware enough of traffic
around you to have pulled over for them.
