But they didn't "run out of parts" The Coupe GT 2.3  (or Special Build, wha=
tever) was first produced in 1986 (6 of them) and was produced throughout 1=
987, it's just in the USA we didn't get any of the late 86 or early 87s. So=
 they produced both the standard and 2.3 at the same time for quite a while=
. Either way, I don't want to make up the name, if it wasn't called the Spe=
cial Build by Audi, I won't call it that either...

With all due respect, I think this is a legend.

IMHO.

Audi just ran out of parts sometime in early 97, and with nothing else to d=
o, since the new production line for the 80/90 coming out later that year w=
as in place. They had to use the new parts.

It is good that you don't have to swap the rear axle(like I did), and have =
the NG engine, but that's it.

VAG has done this before in other countries(fact), why not here.

I would say just enjoy your new passion, and call it the way you want.
