Ahhh! Got to love the V8. ;- )
Seriously, Driving the V8 is a great thing of beauty. The V8 is an instant
classic as it really provided a transition between the old 80's style type
44's and the more modern look of the 90's version of the 100 CS.
As far as repairs - Scott at qshipq at aol.com is the guru as well as Keith
at AudiConnection. You should also be on our list - v8 at audifans.com as your
questions will be more relevant in that forum.
As far as quick responses to your questions.
1. Abs sensor is off. Basically someone has disconnected the ABS from
working - which most people can attest that the early form of ABS didn't
work anyway. Manual says ABS is under rear Bench on Driver's side.
2. Brake Light coming on - Sound like the Bomb is bad. Brake pressure
accumulator. You can test "bomb" by turning car off and applying repeated
pumps to brake pedal. If brake pedal becomes hard to push - Bomb is bad.
Otherwise could be brake lines or brake level.
3. Radio and Telephone. - There is a fuse that is connected to the
battery for the phone. My radio was replaced but it could be either the
relay for the radio or a fuse which are located in the passenger footwell.
4. Temperature - Most likely a clogged radiator. In terms of
maintenance - I have replaced the fan clutch, thermostat, thermoswitch,
radiator hoses and expansion tank. No change in problem with overheating in
stop and go traffic. Like yours - if I'm moving the temperature will go
down.
Parts Bin.com has V8 O.E. radiators for $240.
5. Secondary Fan. you can test the fan by turning on your ac- this will
turn this fan on. the fan has 3 speeds. You can also test each speed of
the fan by using a jumper wire at the connection for the relay. If the fan
doesn not go on - there are 3 reasons for this. 1, the resistor pack is
blown. 2, the fusible link is blown. Or 3, the cluster temp gauge is not
working.
Hope this helps. And congratulations.
