Loosening stuck parts

Doyt-
Before you go messing with all sorts of soda, let me mention that
it is the carbonic acid content in Coke that makes it effective- I
don't know whether Pepsi is comparable, I know Gatorade won't work.

:-)

If Diet Coke has similar acid levels, I'd use that instead, because
the lack of sugar makes it easier to clean up.

My car's undercarriage has lots of rusty bolts- VT winters will do that.

Yes, Taka........That information opens up vast new areas of
experimentation....I envision dozens of tests of stuff like Mountain
Dew,
Pepsi, Gatorade, not to mention degrees of effectiveness of Classic Coke
vs
the new Vanilla Coke/Cherry Coke, etc Coke.

I could try Kroil on one rusty bolt, household ammonia on the next one,
and
varieties of colas on a whole series of rusted parts on one of my old
diesels. The entire audifans community could get involved.

This may take some time. Perhaps the whole summer. Have you tried cold
beer
on those rusty parts? Then again, what brands, imports, shall we include

ale?.............research parameters are so difficult to define.

Reports to follow.

Mandatory Audi content: My 87 5ktq doesn't have enough rust ANYWHERE to
test any of this stuff adequately. Maybe a little on some underbody
components......like the rear brake pressure adapter.........salt belt
stuff.
