I haven't seen any stripped keyways on the 20v cars yet, just corrado's and
some tricked out Jetta/Golfs. It mostly comes down to harsh up and down
shifting, and higher than normal compression ratios. Yet, my 13-1 cr 200hp
1.6 rabbit engine hasn't had any issues yet. Then again I have the crank
bolt tightened to all hell and red locktited in.
The one guy I ocassionally crew for also races a 1.6 rabbit motor putting
out almost 240hp at almost 10k rpms. He is also running a stock crank and
rods, although the rods have been shot peened and treated. I can't remember
the last time he broke something big, although the motor does get freshend
up every 10 races or so. It is safe to say they don't build 'em like they
used to!
