It should be a "nipple," that is, a piece of pipe with threads on both
ends.  Should be cheap at the dealer, so you can wreck it removing it
after picking up a new one.  That would mean using a pipe wrench or
something.

or, are you just pulling it for engine work?  try capping it with
something to protect the threads and leave it in place.
