Thoughts/advice on new wheel/tire package for '95 90Q

Greetings,

I need to get new tires for my '95 90Q and would like to get an additional set of
wheels so that I can mount studded snows on the originals. I'd also like to move to
a 16" (or possibly 17") rim and I'm considering a slightly wider tire. Overall, I'd
like to get a decent package but keep costs within reason.

By my research, I think that some Borbet 16x7.5 rims with 225/50/16 tires would be a
good way to go and would be very close to the stock tire diameter (205/60/15 on a
15x7 rim). I think I have a few cm of clearance to play with as far as the steering
mechanicals and wheel well clearance looks to be OK too. BTW, the stock rim offset
is ET37 and I believe the Borbets will be ET35 (2mm closer to the street, right?).
Can anyone confirm that this setup will fit without trouble?

Now for opinions: 16" or 17" wheels? (I think the 16s are a good compromise between
ride quality and handling, plus the costs are lower). Any recommendations on tire
brand/type? (I don't want to open up a can of worms here, but just a well handling,
3-season tire that's a good value). Which style of wheels? (From what I've seen,
the Type T looks pretty decent, but I'm also considering Type E and Type B). I've
found some pics on the web (mainly of Type T), but any unposted pics would be
helpful.

Anything else that I'm missing? How is TireRack for customer service? Additional
comments and advice would be more than welcome. Thanks,

Joel
