what goes wrong in the 4k odo's ??

Brian,
On most of them yes, at least from what I have heard.
The gears that turn the numbers slide to the side on
the shaft and therefore get disengaged. You can fix
this by gluing in a piece of plastic alongside them so
that they are not able to slide. This requires opening
up the odo/dash though.
