My spec sheets for european audis (from '94)show that the Audi 80 came
with two versions of the 2.0 engine. They were called 2.0 and 2.0E and
respectively made 90 and 115 HP. These were 8 valve, 1984 cc engines - so
same bore/stroke as VW. The Audi 100 also came with two versions of the
2.0 engine, but the lesser one made 101 HP, the other 115. In the case of
the 80, the 2.0 version cost about 30% less then the 2.8 V6.

As a side note the 80 did come to the US with the 4cyl 2.0 8v from '88 to
'90. It used to be a popular engine transplant into a Rabbit - required
different intake and exhaust due to engine orientation.
