Gearbox - Mobil 1 Gear Oil is GL5 - Get it out and a GL4 fluid in there or =
you will wear out the synchros (BTDT, nearly had to pay). Try Redline MT90 =
(Make sure it's GL4). It managed to heal my dying sychros in my 200Q, and b=
eing synthetic, shifts well when cold. It will cure the whining more than l=
ikely as well.
Rear Diff - Mobil 1 GL5 is fine.
Engine - I like the concept that synthetic is supposed to flow better when =
cold, i.e. cold start ups in 10 degree F weather will still have oil up in =
the head within fractions of a second rather than in a few seconds. Other t=
han that, the 4K doesn't need synthetic, although I ran it anyway. The most=
major leak of oil I have on any of the I-5's is the valve cover gasket, an=
d easy replacment, with the opportunity to refinish the often rusty valve c=
over.
