I've got a wire loose

That's pretty much my experience with my 87.5 CGT. Three wire fan, 2 speeds. Low speed most of the time, high speed when REALLY hot or when AC pressures build up high. No sign of an after-run feature so far, but I don't drive the car hard during the last few minutes of a trip so it may not be hot enough to kick in when I park it. Do you think I should have an after-run? Any thoughts on what to look at?

Audi typically mates the 3 terminal fan motor (2 speeds built-in) with a
chassis mounted resistor to get the 3rd speed. The T89 cars also have the
resistor. Audi in its design "genius" always uses a relay to short out the
chassis mounted resistor as long as the engine is on. It gives my old T43
5ks a pseudo after run fan feature which you can hear quite clearly as the
fan switches to low speed when you shut off the engine. The exception is
the '87.5 CGT which doesn't have the chassis mounted resistor. It uses the
fan motor's built in resistor for normal cooling and the direct high speed
terminal for the overheat and, I think, the A/C high pressure switch.
