Round 1: 5ktq questions...

Greetings,
I posted that i had acquired my second type 44 last weekend... given the ho=
rror stories of that 100q for sale, I guess I still didn't do too badly for=
 $375! (I bought it non-running, no fuel pressure. Turns out the 400 amp ba=
ttery someone threw in wasn't enough!)
Adding the Optima batt from my 240Z fired her right up. Runs good, too. No =
warning lights (except occasional ABS OFF). Haven't given it full throttle =
until I can figure out how to dispose of the fuel in the tank (car was sitt=
ing) so I don't know about the boost...
But otherwise, I have a few issues. (Ever heard of a three-figure TQ that d=
idn't?)

Completely dead climate control, first of all. No lights in the panel, fuse=
s have been replaced with known good ones. CC worked (at least showed LEDs =
and fan blew) before I got it started... where should I
begin to test?

Idle is fluctuating. Idles at 900 evenly when cold (just like my old 5kt) b=
ut once warmed up, 13-1400 and fluctuates. Cleaning the ISV had no effect.

Finally, the shift linkage- it shifts smoothly and quietly, but I had to re=
move the boot because the whole pattern has moved back about 3/4 inch (leve=
r almost touches handbrake in 2,4,R) and the boot just flops with it. Weird=
! Since the action is so good, I figure it's adjustment of the rod??

If you're all wondering why I squandered money on such an example, let me s=
ay that the electrics are good with respect to the windows/drivers doorjamb=
/lights etc. And the leather interior is almost perfect. And no big Pentosi=
n leaks or manifold ticking noises, either!

(I'm really wanting to get this car up and going- I went on a 3rd date last=
 night with a young lady who felt like stargazing from fireroads in the mou=
ntains north of Phoenix! And we had to take her dorF Escort and leave the A=
WD beast w/sunroof in the garage- would that have been a perfect Quattro tr=
ip or what?)
