Any ideas (opening the trunk)?

Actually, yes, many years ago, although on an '80 5k.

You can access the trunk space via the rear deck speaker holes, and use
a lot of extensions and a 10mm socket (tape them all together so they
don't fall off), and undo the two bolts that hold the trunk latch in
place.  It falls off, the trunk opens, and then you can fix whatever you
need to.
