Megan:
I had similar problems with the blower fan on my (former) 4kcsq. In my
case, it turned out to be the switch - a cheap and easy fix. I'd check
there first.
As for the decision to sell the 90q20v, sorry to hear it, but I definitely
understand the logic - that's largely why I unloaded my 200q a couple of
years back. Anywho, if you're still considering a GTI, I saw an article
(actually a series of articles) you might like at

Scroll down to "Project Volkswagen GTI" and enjoy!

Hey all-

Well, I've very regretfully decided to sell the 90q20v. Last night I had a
BLAST tearing around in it and almost changed my mind, but the one look
under
the hood today told me that it had to go, as I realized that I'm just not
enough of an accomplished mechanic to tackle this wonderful, complicated
machine just yet.

In the meantime, I will be driving my 4kq, whose interior fan blower has
recently quit. The blower still blows heat, but only on low. The 1-2-3-4
blower switch, when turned, does nothing. I already checked the fuse, and my
next thought is the resister(or?). How do I test this? Anyone BTDT with a
sudden death of variable fan speeds? TIA.

Megan
