7.5x16 wheels for '87 Coupe Quattro (not UrQ!) ???

Thanks for the input, everyone!

In the past few days I've done some heavy math, as well as tried to get some
reference by fitting the original steel wheels (6x14 ET 45), my current
winter alloys (6x14 ET 38) and some totally out-of-range alloys (7x15 ET
14). I'll probably put the math into code and write a program for comparing
both rim and wheel sizes to make it a bit easier in the future. I also
invented a "simple" tool for measuring rim and wheel clearances - and was
pretty surprised to find out that the local dealers didn't possess anything
like that. Hope to have a prototype built soon... ;)

Anyway, it seems that 7.5x16 will be a pain in the butt with the proposed
ET. If it doesn't say "Quattro" on the list, don't expect it to fit.
Should've known. The rear end of the Coupe Quattro provides a fair share of
problems, not only because of the fender arch, but also due to the spring
seat in the suspension strut, the width of the suspension arm and the track
rod mount.

When measured with the 7" wide wheel with the ridiculously small ET of 14
mm, it left a 40 mm clearance in the inner side, and was about 20 to 25 mm
too wide on the outer side. The test tire was a 195/50R15 GY Eagle Ventura,
which has really bulgy sidewalls, so we're better off with most performance
tires having straighter sidewalls.

I've come to the conclusion that a 7x16 rim with ET of about 38 (around
35-40?) and 205/45R16 rubber would be a good choice. It will provide minimum
hassle and if I still encounter problems, rolling the arch lips will most
likely cure the last of them.

Since I definitely cannot affod OZ Superleggeras (or most other OZs for that
matter), I'll be on lookout for a neat set of rims in the right size - such
as Mille Miglia MM11+.
