93 90q - Problems Starting...

Fuel pumps can behave intermittently, sure. If you ran it really low, you
could have sucked just about anything into the lines.
When you turn the ignition to on (not start), do you hear the starting
whine of the pump priming the system (lasts about 1 second or so). Turn
the key with the door open if yours is a quiet pump. Does the car turn
over but never catches? About the only way to see if the filter is
plugged/pump is delivering pressure is to pop the line open. Messy and
smelly. No smoking, cover the fitting with a big rag, etc...
