Converting from R12 to R134a

For the $500 he is going to replace the receiver/dryer, replace all o-rings, install new fittings, replace all seals, evacuate, and recharge with the proper R134a & oil, test the system and back it up with a 1 year warranty. He claims to never have had one come back in for warranty work or repairs after being converted. So, does this still sound like a decent deal?

Well, when I was researching this, I found out that the compressors used
in the 4000q's (and the coupes) are the same ones that Freightliner uses
in their trucks. If the compressor is big enough to cool of the cab of
a semi truck, I think it should be ok on a coupe. ; )
I was told by a few sources though, that the system still has plenty of
cooling capability after the conversion.
Gonna do mine this spring. But going to do it myself.
By the way, what all is this guy going to do, and what is he going to
replace?
If you are getting a rebuilt compressor, new hoses, new receiver/dryer
and new evaporator, then it's a darned good price in my book. If the
guy is just going to replace the receiver/dryer, slap on the fittings to
allow the new refrigerant to be used, and then fill it up, then it seems
like a pretty lousy deal to me.
I'd make sure that the guy does a good test of the system, and finds and
fixes any leaks. Otherwise, all of the refrigerant may leak out before
you even get it home. If there's absolutely no pressure left, you most
likely have a leak somewhere. On a car as old as ours, you probably
have some dried out o-rings, and leaky seals at minimum.....
Good Luck!
