Converting from R12 to R134a

Based on some more info I gathered, I am not going to convert at this time. The York compressor that is used on the CGT and 4k apparently doesn't like R134a. I was warned by several people who have converted that I won't be happy with the results (they weren't). Even though this is the same compressor used on mid 80s Freightliner trucks, it just doesn't cool well when filled with 134a. If your replace the York compressor with a SD508, 709, or sd510 results are good (still not as cold as R12) but at this point, I see no reason to replace a good compressor. So, I'm going to get the leak fixed and have it evacuated and refilled with R12. Plus this will be cheaper! (R12 recharge is going to run about $200)

R414A is supposed to one example. R406A is another.
These have been sold by
http://www.autofrost.com
as Autofrost-X3 (R-406A) and Autofrost-X4 (R-414A).
These can be purchased at http://www.refrigerantsales.com/
I saw part of a thread on R12 replacements at:
http://www.aircondition.com/wwwboard/alternative/current/7678.html
Has anybody tried this stuff?
Eric
