Stalling 80q

Hi all-
My sister has a '91 80q that has a stalling problem that has a long story.
Here goes- It all started in January when the car failed the emission test
here in Denver--high HC and CO. Otherwise it seemed to be running very
well. The mech said that all testing was leading to bad ECU. Weird thing
is, this is already the 2nd ECU she's had. So she put in a new (used) ECU
again. That caused all sorts of idle problems and then staling problems.
To make a long story less long, over the past 8 weeks, in and out of the
dealer (ouch!!!) she's had the following replaced with NEW parts:
Cap/ rotor
Fuel pressure regulator (regulator valve)
ECU (used)
Airflow meter
Idle stabilizer
air sensor--$600--what the #$%@ is this??? P/N 054-133-471B
Idle/WOT switch
in all she has spent $2600--which really Pi$$e$ me off. The dealer mech did
drive her car home to try to duplicate her problems. Here we are. She has
spent all this money and now it occassionally STILL stalls. If it happens,
it happens within 5 minutes of a warm restart. When coming to a stop and
the clutch is pushed in engine drops and never recovers--just stalls.
easily restarts immediately. It has only stalled 4 times since picking the
car up the last time. Other times, and this is fairly consistent, during
the first 5 minutes after warm restart, when coming to a stop in neutral,
the engine will sometimes drop to ~500 rpm then catch and go back to normal
idle. After ~5 minutes--no issues. Any ideas??
Also what would cause 2 ECU's to go bad?
She is taking solace in that now her car, which is in overall excellent
condition--very solid, now has lots of new parts to ensure a very long life,
at a not inconsiderable expense.
Any ideas/input greatly appreciated!
