electrical beeping/ glove box short

I now believe that I have found the possible short which seems to be coming
from the glove box light - or in the area there of.  There is an
intermittent surged of electricity coming if I fiddle with the wires and I
have learned that the wires leading to it have been replaced.  How do you
remove the glove box so I can better access this area.

Also as this has happened before when the battery is drained I get a beeping
coming from the passenger area. a series of three tones It's intermittent.

Is this just a signal that the battery is drained or is it something more
sinister?

 Also I have heard the climate control can provide one with the current volt
levels on the V8 - how do you do this.
