Howdy all. Here is a final rundown on the Allroad (Noroad, Onlift,
Offroad...) that mum bought a few months ago. The turn out was finally
good, it seems.
The first round: bad trans (2nd and 3rd synchros not working), replaced.
Second round: severely vibrating clutch pedal, replaced driveshaft.
Third round: full car vibration at 60-70mph, futz with driveshaft more.
After third round the car got halfway home to NY and the maintenance rep
realized above it 80 it shook horribly, back to the dealership it went.
Forth round: mum calls dealer, talks to owner of dealership, talks with AoA,
and goes to RI to drive the car with the owner, service advisor, and head
tech. Owner is actually quite knowledgeable and tells the service folks
what to do, tells mum if the car isn't perfect when she gets it back that
they will give her the keys to a new car. Plus they gave her the demo A6
3.0 Avant to play with until the car was done.
Car comes home after that and everything seems good, though she says the
clutch pedal still vibrates very mildly, but I noticed nothing major when I
drove it, great feeling car. Seems to be that the driveshaft causes the
vibrating pedal, or so they say, so it needs to be aligned to absolute
perfection, which I would think the dealer boys are doing by hand and
without a jig, if Audi even offers a jig that is. So we keep the car and
mum seems pleased, but with a sour taste about the way the dealership
handled the situation and getting a bum car to start with, the vG curse I
tell ya.
Cheers!
