Burning Engine Coolant

I recently repaired an engine with a blown head gasket (not an Audi). The
only symptoms were (1) loss of coolant, (2) brown chocolaty oil, and being
able to hear gurgling in the radiator (with the cap off) with the engine
running. A compression test did not show anything, and after getting the
head off it was obvious why. The "blown" portion of the gasket was very
tiny. It held the compression during the test, but allowed seepage with the
engine actually running, which of course produces a much higher pressure
than during a compression test..
