One has to wonder if Audi actually didn't sell that many on purpose,
because they were worried that A6 5 speed NA V6's with PES
superchargers would take a front seat to the A6 2.7tt and the 4.2.
After all:

-it's basically the same amount of power, just as "instant on" as the V8
-probably better mileage
-for a whole lot less bucks($15k or so?  Don't know what a 2.8 costs.)
-you get a manual tranny, something you CAN'T get with the A6 4.2.
Yeah, the 2.7tt comes with the 6, but people who buy V8s want power
and they want it NOW, none of this spoolin' funnybusiness...
