5kcstq rack hose connections?

Hi Kneale,

Thanks, I also found it I had it backwards. I was staring at the pic at
http://members.aol.com/c1j1miller/steer.html#Hoses, wishing the hoses were labeled. Then it hit me that
it was instructions to replace the pressure hose from the pump, so the missing hose in the pic was that
one. Aha! :-P (actually, I think that pic you linked was the same in my Bentley, only it looks clearly to
me now somehow)

So I then experienced the *joy* of swapping the hoses around with everything in place, except the
reservoir. I turned the wheel back and forth to bleed the system. Eventually it started to get some assist
going on. Now I can just hope this rack stays good for a while. Fresh boot, special rack lube inside,
fingers crossed.

*Begin story about clutch and later struts*

So I test drive the car for the first time after getting it back together. The car's been on jack stands for a
while, getting a new clutch and different rack.

The new clutch feels great, nice and light. I'm trying to make sure to break it in correctly.

I think I need to adjust the driveshaft center support bearing as I detect a bit of vibration at certain speeds.
Also the rack is a bit tight and needs to be adjusted. As far as the repairs I did go, things seem to be
alright. Dare I say I "did the clutch" on the car. Phew is an understatement.

But the car has a brand new problem now, of course. =) I think one or both of my front struts are frozen!
I guess they didn't like to be left hanging for such a long time. They weren't healthy as it was, and that
probably did it for them.

The car rides like it's bottomed out in the front, but the ride height is about where it should be. I thought
the sway bar was binding, since I tightened the front brackets with the bar pushed up. I loosened those
and drove around that way to maybe get it to settle.

I'm pretty sure when I initially jacked up each side, the struts extended. However, when I pushed down on
the car, it would go down and them kind stick and not come back up. Now they feel even more fixed.

I was/am just about to get some B+G's and Bilstein's, I guess the car is anxious.

I wanted to drive the car for a trip this weekend, so I may pull the front struts off the donor and swap them
in if they aren't also frozen. Joy! :-)

Thanks,

Ken
