Thanks, Huw. It is, but not conventional paint. I'd seen stuff powder
coated before (suspension bits and such) and it looked so incredibly smooth
that I was under the impression that powder coat somehow filled all
imperfections.

I'll try high-build primer. Works a treat with sanding marks, scratches and
such.
