head units

Color aside, why is everyone interested in getting a German head unit,
anyway?  Haven't we had enough electrical failures, etc. with our Audis
to teach us not to rely on a German brand for purely electronic
reliability / features?

I have a JVC something or other head unit from 1995 that has worked
perfectly in and out of about 3 vehicles I've owned since that time
period w/o any problems at all.  It has never skipped, not even in a
stiffly-sprung Trans Am or a '90 CQ with coil-overs and 300lb/in front
springs & 350lb/in rears, or blown bulbs, etc.  I'd imagine Sony would be
just as good as well... but I would definitely NOT buy a German
electronic device.
