Dad's works downstairs from NZ Autocar (same guy owns dad's company), and
had a chance to drive the A4 Avant with CVT... it has 6 dummy speeds set
up, so doesn't make full use of the CVT...
I'll have to talk to him more later, but he said it did some very funny
things when stopping, which resulted in a bouncing feeling as it came to a
complete stop... there is an electronic clutch apparently, and you hear a
sproing sound as it engages and disengages...
also the steering was pretty vague... dad much preferred the handling of
peugeot 406 he had on the weekend...
Just heard today that he'd tested it, and remembered that you had asked...
I guess there'll be a writeup in the next NZ Autocar...
Dad's got a turbo diesel golf tonight, so I may take that one for a spin
after work...
I could get used to this...!
