hi Jim,
sounds like a $200 parts car to me. $700 with replaced CV's, MAYBE.
You can't drive it, it's a parts car. it's a good body and not much
else (these things *all* run well, and coupe racks don't leak)
CV's are fairly easy to replace. I'd look under that dash cover, it's
certainly covering up a moonscape.
Remember the old adage "buy the best example you can afford." You have
not described a good example of an Audi Coupe, more like the sort of car
I'd like to get my hands on. Good body and '84 tranny. I've got
everything else... though I'd rather have the later body.
if you want to get into the Audi Coupe (GT) owning experience, why not
at least find one with decent seats, and wheels you like, etc., to get
started? Aren't all cars in SoCal rust free, too?
